Produce of Vatnajökull Region WOW!
The Vatnajökull Region ltd. is a cluster of Southeast Iceland tourism, food and culture companies. The purpose of the cluster is that of marketing the region, with emphasis on winter, developing products and building and improving infrastructure and encouraging cooperation and unity within the cluster. Objectives are to increase efficiency in the tourist industry in Southeast Iceland and to market the local food and tourist industry under a single trademark that of; The Vatnajökull Region WOW!.
Food producers in the cluster can label their products with this local product label; Produce of Vatnajökull Region WOW!

East Iceland Delicacies - Local food
East Iceland Delicacies - Local Food is a quality sign for local foods made from raw material from East Iceland. Products that are made in accordance with the local traditions of East Iceland. East Iceland Delicacies produce and serve their products with pleasure under the slogan Insight-Cognition-Exclusiveness. The purpose of East Iceland Delicacies - Local Food is to enforce as well as to be a operational platform for those who are involved with local goods.

Straight from the farm
Straight from the farm is a project that deals with enabling farmers to sell their own produce straight from the farm. The aim of the project was to develop a mark and supply farmers with the neccesary information to take the first steps to direct-sale of their products. Also to inform the general public and the farmers through the projects website. The founders of the project were; Hólar University College, Living Agriculture, Farmers Travel Services, The Agricultural University of Iceland, The Farmers Association of Iceland and Innovation Centre Iceland.
The organisation ´Straight from the farm - Association of local producers' (Beint frá býli - félag heimavinnsluaðila) was foundet early in the year 2008.

From first hand
“Frá fyrstu hendi” og hugtakið “Sveitamatur” eru gæðamerki á matvælum íslenskra sveita, þar sem megin þættir framleiðslunnar byggja á íslensu hráefni og íslenskri framleiðslu. Með íslensku hráefni er átt við hráefni frá landbúnaði, fiskveiðum og nýtingu afurða villtrar náttúru. Með framleiðslu er átt við framleiðslustað, hráefni, starfskrafta, reynslu, þekkingu og sögu- og menningarlegar hefðir.
Einungis félagsmenn í samtökunum Beint frá býli mega nota gæðamerkið “Frá fyrstu hendi” að undangenginni umsókn og að uppfylltum skilyrðum fyrir notkun gæðamerkisins.

South Iceland - Local traditions
The Food Cluster of South Iceland and The Westman Islands aim is to preserve and promote the local food traditions in accordance with the international ´slow food´ ideology. By using local primary products we strengthen the food production as well as contributing to the stabilization of the food security in Iceland. It also shortens the transportation routes , decreases pollution and cuts transportation costs.

Local Food of Eyjafjörður
Local food of Eyjafjörður is an organisation that seeks to promote the local cuisine of Eyjafjörður in general. The project is based on the idea of Slow Food, and originates in the collaboration of people working within the food, catering and tourism industries of Eyjafjörður. The label, while not a certificate as such, identifies local products and services of the people involved with the project.

Open Farms
Welcome to the country!
Through the Open Farms project, the public is given a chance to visit farms and learn about the various tasks needed to keep a farm going in the rural areas of the country. The Open Farms label is not a certificate as such, but serves to identify the farms involved with the project through a partnership with the Farmers Association of Iceland. They represent a cross section of modern Icelandic agriculture. All the farms have received a veterinary health certificate.
Before a visit is scheduled it is prudent to keep in mind the various conditions at the farms, e.g. toilet facilities, resting places and so on.
Farmers do charge for visits, the amount depending on the nature and extent of the services provided. In almost all cases the farmers can only take cash, and visitors are kindly asked to keep that in mind.

Taste the Westfjords - Local food
“Taste the Westfjords“ is a regional development project in Food Tourism. The aim is to promote and increase the visibility of Westfjords‘ top quality food. The purpose of the project is to foster and build up a progressive cooperation amongst Westfjords‘ companies, food producers, restaurants, shops and tourism agents. Innovation is encouraged and special emphasis is put on product development, motivating new techniques in the production, processing and cooking practices of Westfjords local ingredient and related services.

Organic certification - Tún
The organic certification agency Tún manages the surveillance on organic produce in Iceland. Organic agriculture requires that its’ production is grown without the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers in accordance to the European Union’s regulations on organic agriculture. It is illegal within the European Union to label any produce organic unless it fulfills the standards of the Union’s regulations. The certificate does not include the environmental impact of the product itself or its packaging.

Northeast Iceland Culinary Experience - Local food
For Northeast Iceland, the tourism industry and local food producers have an opportunity to take advantage of the cultural heritage of the region to define a shared vision for product development and marketing linked to local food and food production. After initiative and preparation by Atthing, a group of local companies have formed a cluster around local food, the “Northeast Iceland Culinary Experience (NICE)“.

Flughálka er á Grindarvíkurvegi.Hálkublettir eru í Þrengslum og á Hellisheiði einnig eru hálkublettir frá Selfossi að Hvolsvelli og á nokkrum leiðum í uppsveitum.
Á Vesturlandi er hálka á Holtavörðuheiði , Bröttubrekku og Vatnaleið. Hálkublettir eða snjóþekja er á flestum öðrum leiðum.
Á Vestfjörðum er þæfingsfærð á Steingrímsfjarðarheiði, Þröskuldum, Hálfdáni, Mikladal og Kleifarheiði á öðrum leiðum er snjóþekja og verið að hreinsa.
Á Norðurlandi eru hálkublettir eða snjóþekja á flestum leiðum. Hálka og éljagangur er á Vatnsskarði og hálkublettir og éljagangur á Öxnadalsheiði.
Austanlands eru hálkublettir á nokkrum fjallvegum en meira og minna autt á láglendi.

Þungatakmarkanir eru nú víða um land.Misjafnir þjónustutímar
