It has repeatedly been proven in research that  keeping a pet improves a person’s health and thereby lengthens ones lifespan, for example walking a dog is good exercise. Keeping a pet is thus people-friendly but not considered especially eco-friendly. You should feed your pet with nutritious healthy, preferably organic food. Bear in mind, it is not always enough to give the pet specifically designed pet food. Find out about what additional foods can be given to your pet. The animal feed which is sold in Iceland is checked by the food authorities and should be free from toxic chemicals. The Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority supervises the import of pet food into Iceland and also supervises general animal health and food condition.
